About

My Approach

Margaret Hartmann, MA, LMFT, is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University. She works primarily with teens and families, helping clients navigate their challenges with greater clarity, confidence, and emotional steadiness. Margaret has specialized interest in supporting individuals impacted by eating disorders and body image concerns. She brings 5 years of meaningful experience to her private practice as a former Primary Therapist and then Clinical Director of residential treatment programs working with adolescents facing complex, high-acuity challenges—including severe depression (with suicidal ideation and self-harm), anxiety, eating disorders, OCD, and substance use. Margaret is certified in Dialectical Behavior Therapy through the DBT-Linehan Board of Certification™. Her therapy style is compassionate, direct, and collaborative—grounded in both deep validation and practical skill-building. She is passionate about helping clients create a life worth living by fostering effective coping strategies, improving communication skills, and balancing radical acceptance with intentional change. In sessions, she blends acceptance-based support with proven evidence-based strategies that promote change, such as identifying unhelpful thinking patterns, practicing healthier behaviors, and strengthening emotional regulation. Outside of work, Margaret enjoys hands-on DIY projects, investing in all things gymnastics, and taking day hikes with her family and pup. Margaret offers sliding scale payment plans on an individual basis.
